2019 had me re-embarking onto where it all started – 35mm film. I spent the last few years hunting relentlessly for the intimacy I used to feel when I would be processing film in the darkroom in my high school photography class. It took more than 3 years of disconnecting myself from digital cameras and putting all my efforts into concepting to realize that I needed to go back to film photography to acquire the intimate feeling I once felt. Spending 2019 mostly with 35mm film cameras, I quickly fell deeper, realizing that film was exactly what I needed to slow my process down, to think through each and every frame, and practice patience in excitement for the results.
All the photographs below were experimental with different film stocks and cameras, ranging from Kodak Portra to CineStill and Ricoh GR10 to the famed Contax G2.
